As the UK temperatures plummeted at the beginning of March we experienced what was dubbed "The beast from the east" and "snowmaggedon" snow pretty much landed everywhere bringing the nations roads to a standstill.

As you can see the arrival of storm Emma towards the end of the week caused much of the snow that had fallen to drift into areas that were passable. Lane one on the M6 southbound became impassable just before junction 12 where it is openly exposed to wind causing this snow drift to pile very high completely covering the safety barrier estimated at 7-8 foot tall at places.
