Rare sight of male Tawny Frogmouth Owl huddling with two females
Tawny Frogmouth Owls belong to a family of birds found only in Australia.
Captured in early February, the clip shows the birds taking in their surroundings in the daytime.
Experienced wildlife filmer and traveller Robert Humphries captured the rare sighting of the male owl having two female mates: "Frogmouths are cryptic and sit quietly in trees during the day, impersonating the broken end of a dead branch. They are alert, however, watching their surroundings through slitted eyes. The males are rarely seen with two mates as this one is."
Humphries claims this could be the first time a male has been captured with two female mates.
