The general secreatary of the University and College Union (UCU), Sally Hunt, was shouted down by strikers ahead of talks between the union and Universities over pensions.

Footage shows Ms Hunt telling picketers outside the union's North London headquarters no deal will be reached without consultation of UCU members.

A heckler is then applauded after claiming the union's membership has already voted on the issue.

UCU members reacted with anger to the news of a potential deal being reached after six days of strikes by lecturers in universities across the UK.

The dispute was triggered by a change of pension scheme by universities that the union says will make staff worse off in retirement.
