You Can See for Yourself the Mistreatment of Pets by Delta Cargo and Turkish Customs in Istanbul

The incident occurred in early August in flights that originated in San Francisco, California with a day stop in New York where we had to get further USDA certifications of vaccinations, and then on to Istanbul with the final destination being Baku, Azerbaijan. The dogs, an Australian Shepard mix rescue dog, and a brown-spotted Dalmatian, both over 10-years old were caged for the entirety of the flight and the 10 hours in Istanbul without food or water (unopened food packs can be seen on the tops of the kennels). While in Istanbul, we were subjected to a bureaucratic nightmare in simply transferring the dogs from on holding area to another contracted by Delta Airlines and Turkish Airlines respectively. The Turkish authorities deemed the dogs as entering Turkey and thus required another set of certifications that compelled me to go to a veterinarian in Istanbul twice and pay about $200 in documentation fees. Never mind the vet never actually did any examination and only stamped required documents. I also had to pay a "fixer" about $300 to get us through the 8-hour long process. The dogs were not let out or fed until we got to Baku where authorities never bothered to even look at our paperwork for the dogs. I used my iPhone video to document this abuse, going into the holding area at the risk of arrest for going into a restricted area. I was not allowed to let the dogs out or feed or water them.
