Local residents have been warned to close their windows and avoid Hove seafront after a huge fire at a warehouse in the East Sussex town.

Video from the town, near Brighton, shows plumes of black smoke rising above residential and industrial areas.

The fire is believed to have started in the Chandler Building Supplies warehouse around 8:45 AM.

Brighton and Hove police tweeted: "Residents who live in the Kingsway area should keep their windows closed due to the smoke."

This video was shot from Hove Lagoon in Hove, Brighton at 9.43 in the morning on the 15/03/2018. The footage shows Chandlers Building Supplies on fire and smoke billowing from the industrial warehouse and up and across Hove and surrounding areas.

Local news stations instructed nearby residents to close all windows to avoid inhallation of toxic fumes and the main seafront road in Brighton is )closed today (15/03) as fire fighters attended to the blaze. There appeared to be around 7 fire engines and lots of police at the scene. Smoke has travelled quite far across Hove and up in to Portslade and Mileoak. My husband and I saw the smoke whilst out for a morning coffee and stroll after dropping our daughter to school; after visiting the Big Beach Cafe at the Lagoon we came out to this scene. We also saw flames that appeared to be quite high above the roof of the warehouse. Huge clouds of black smoke were rising up in to the sky, as well as white and grey smoke.
