Shocking footage shows a car spinning out of control as icy conditions grip England due to the "Mini Beast from the East".

Dashcam video shows a Renault Megane attempting to overtake a vehicle on the A329 towards Reading just before midnight on 18 March.

The car then skids out of control and collides with the left-hand saftey barrier, causing the filmer's car to smash into the other vehicle.

The occupants of the Megane were not injured, according to the filmer, who described the car as a "write-off".

The video was posted to social media, where one viewer commented: "Why risk overtaking in those conditions! Especially when there is snow on the road and at those speeds traction just disappears."

Travel in many parts of England was disrupted this weekend after another cold front brought large amounts of snow.

In Cornwall and Devon, police issued travel warnings on roads such as the A30 and advised motorists to delay their journeys.
