Sumatran Tiger Rescue
A Sumatran Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae) is female and five years old, was issued by the officer of Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of West Sumatra Province from the cage in Nagari Sungkai Liku Ateh, Palangai District, Ranah Pasisia Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency, Sumater West (June 11, 2016).
He has been in the cage snare for two days, which the residents and officers have installed. Residents have previously fretted because these wild animals enter their settlements and have preyed on livestock.
Before being removed from the cage, he was drugged by officers before being taken to the location of care and breeding.
Sumatran tiger is one of the rarest animals in Indonesia which is estimated to live only 400 tails. The inclusion of Sumatran tigers into the settlements is thought to be due to the narrowness of their home range due to forest exploitation and hunting.
