Indian police have arrested three men after a woman was brutally flogged in public for adultery.
The arrested men include the husband of the victim, Shaudan Singh, and two village leaders, Sher Singh and Shravan, who ordered the flogging.
The incident took place on March 10 at a village in Bulandshahr, India. But it came to light on March 22 after the police took note of a video of the brutal incident and arrested the men.
The video shows Shaudan Singh flogging the woman after tying her to a tree.
A huge crowd watches the assault, which continues until she falls unconscious.
The victim, who cannot be named under Indian laws, had allegedly eloped with another man. Shaudan Singh had later caught his wife and brought her back to the village forcefully.
He requested a meeting of the elders, who decided that she had brought disgrace to the village, and should be flogged as punishment.
Pravin Ranjan Singh, a senior police officer, said: "We found out about the incident yesterday. Besides the three men, we have filed a case against 20-25 people,", said.
