Little Egret hunting - stirring the mud with its foot to flush prey
The Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) is widely distributed in Australia, although it is more common in the north. It is also found in Africa, Europe, Asia and New Guinea. A diagnostic feature is the yellow soles of its feet.
