Huge African Buffalo herd moving to water in dust cloud, drinking in river
The African Buffalo or Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is a very large, dangerous animal in the same family as domestic cattle. African Buffalo form large herds mainly made up of related females that move large distances in search of water and suitable grass to graze.
This large herd of more than 300 animals was desperate to get to water in the 2016 drought in Kruger Park, and were plunging down the dusty bank of the Shingwedzi River to drink in the drying river pools.
