Stunning close-up drone footage -- North Atlantic sea ice
This stunning close-up footage was filmed over the sea off Newfoundland, Canada on Mar 27, 2018.
The video depicts some close-up shots and some wider angle views of the accumulating sea-ice off the NW coast of Newfoundland. This particular footage was shot in Brighton; however, similar phenomenon is currently seen across most coastal areas prone to northeasterly trade winds. The amount and density of ice is spectacular this year. The footage was captured in Brighton, as it is easy to fly the drone in that specific area (open area).
The plausible explanation that more sea-ice is accumulating appears to be that more ice chunks are breaking off in the arctic ocean due to warmer temperatures and subsequently they show up along the coastlines here (North Atlantic).
