Unique hippo displays unusual love for tea and kisses
Meet Jessica, the world’s only hippo that loves drinking tea and adorably enjoys being kissed by her human admirers.
As a new-born calf, Jessica was washed down a river during the devastating floods of 2000 across Mozambique and South Africa.
She washed up on the banks of the Blyde River running through the Kruger National Park and along local farms outside the park. She was discovered by a local farm owner when she washed up on the banks of the river in front of his house. The helpless female calf lost her mother and had no chance of survival on her own. The farm owners took it upon them to raise Jessica.
Today, Jessica is a 1,600kg free-roaming hippo in the wild that astonishingly still returns to the house of the owners for her bizarre daily serving of tea.
Jessica surprisingly developed a fond taste for tea when she was still very little. She enjoys tea so much that she even allows people to give her a little kiss afterwards.
Interacting with Jessica is an unforgettable experience and a little nerve wrecking at the same time. Very few people are aware of the fact that hippos kill more humans in Africa per year than any other animal. They are normally very aggressive and unpredictable. Jessica is the world’s only hippo that really loves interacting with humans and never shown any aggression towards anyone.
This is a truly unique and very special hippo that turned out to be a true natural phenomenon.
