Thugs tried to rescue prisoners from the prison in the state of Pará, where several dead and 5 agents were injured by gunfire.
One prison officer was killed and another 19 prisoners and people suspected of covering the escape were also killed. Explosives and rifles were found with the bunch. Twenty people died on Tuesday afternoon during a mass flight attempt from the Pará III Penitentiary Recovery Center (CRPP III) in the Santa Izabel Prison Complex in the metropolitan region of Belém. According to the State Secretary Public Security and Social Security (Segup), a prison officer was killed and another 19 prisoners and people suspected of covering the detainees were also killed in the exchange of shots. There are other victims severely injured. The case comes one day after the massacre that killed 12 people in Greater Bethlehem. Video shows bodies thrown by the prison after attempted rescue.
