Autism Superman - Touching Boston Marathon 2016 Finish Line Video
Jonathan Brunot has run 22 marathons. He has run the Boston Marathon 8 times and the NYC Marathon 9 times with several others in between. Jonathan has Autism Spectrum Disorder and is on the lower functioning/severe end of that spectrum. He is 29 years old, but is a lifelong dependent and due to the nature of his disability needs a lot of support in his daily life.
10 years ago, Jonathan was unable to complete a lap around a track and struggled mightily to understand the sport of running. With amazing dedication by his mother Olga, and head coach Vincent, Jonathan began to fall in love with and excel with running. Despite his inability to take traditional coaching due to his communication deficits, coach Vincent and Olga were able to pierce through and give him the gift of running.
Within a year and a half of meeting Coach Vincent, Jonathan and Vincent ran the NYC Marathon! (November 2008). It was the culmination of dedication from the part of the family to support Jonathan and get him to races and practices, and the amazing work of a head coach with no special needs experience but a lot of heart and determination.
THE VIDEO -
This is the Finish Line of the Boston Marathon 2016. Jonathan's family is on runner's right, about 100 yards from the Finish Line, getting there 5-6 hours early just to be sure to have an opportunity to see and touch and celebrate Jonathan as he completes his marathon. With his GUIDE/coach Jill Loveland at his side, Jonathan doubled back after seeing the family to come see his mother and give her a kiss on the lips (one of his signature moves) before completing the Marathon.
Jonathan needs assistance with brushing his teeth and bathing, feeding and clothing himself and will always need support. At the same time, we are blessed to have found a way for him to not only excel, but contribute in a meaningful way to society.
To discover everything about Jonathan, you can refer to his website:

Jonathan is unable to read or write but his oldest brother Verlaine created and maintained the website in an effort to advocate and celebrate Jonathan's accomplishments.
