A young male elephant showed a ton of heart during repeated attempts to get out of a river in Kruger National Park in South Africa.

In the video, the young elephant can be seen struggling to make his way onto the river bank.

As he’s climbing, a large male elephant decides to go into the water at the same time and bumps the youngster back into the river.

“On his second attempt, the young male nearly makes it up the slippery bank, but in the end, finds himself sliding back down into the water,” the filmer explained.

“On the third attempt, he puts all his energy into getting out and, to our relief, he finally manages to get out the water and move on to join the rest of the herd.”

The video shows a young male elephant faced with the challenge of getting out of a river. A task that should be pretty straight forward turns into a real struggle for this young elephant. We came across this herd of elephants while they were enjoying a late afternoon swim together. The young male shown in the video was ready to get out and started making his way to the river bank. Suddenly a large male on the outside decides that it is his turn to get inside the water for a swim. Without any consideration for the young elephant attempting to climb up the bank, the large bull elephant kneels down and slides into the water and in the process bumps the youngster right back into the water. While this was a very comical scenanrio, we felt a littlle sorry for the young one at the same time. On the second attempt the young male nearly makes it up the slippery bank but in the end finds himself sliding back down into the water. Getting out of the river was becoming an almost impossible task for this youngster. His struggle did not get the better of him. On the third attempt he puts all his energy into getting out and to our relief he finally manages to get out the water and move on to join the rest of the herd.
