Thousands hit the streets for hottest London Marathon on record

Thousands descended on central London as temperatures hit a record high of 24 degrees for the London Marathon.

Footage shows runners making their way along the Victoria Embankment in blazing sunshine as thousands look on an support.

More than 40,000 runners took part in the 42km (26.2 miles) race with four and a half litres of water being distributed per person, according to the race organisers.

Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge won the race with a time of 2:04:17 and Mo Farah set a new British record, coming thrid with a time of 2:06:21.
