This is the shocking moment fans of South African football team Kaizer Chiefs invaded the pitch and attack stadium staff after losing a cup match.

Footage from the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban shows the scenes after the Chiefs lost 2-0 to Free State Stars on April 21.

A group can be seen attacking a female security guard with chairs and pieces of wood in the distance.

The guard is thought to be fighting for her life in hospital, according to local media.

Other fans, seen wearing the Chief's signature yellow strip, are spotted throwing objects at security staff.

The rioters are believed to have caused up to 5 million Rand (£293,000) in damages to cameras and sound equipment.

Police have arrested two people in connection with the violence.
