Water Monitor Lizard seeks out a nesting site
During one of our Safaris we spotted a Water Monitor Lizard seeking out a nesting site in Hluhluwe Imfolozi game reserve. This is common in Summer months and also they will create small scrapes in the sand as the soil below is cooler than the soil above. This way they can cool down there blood temperature if needs be. Water would we the other option when it comes to cooling down as cold blooded animals.
