A baby elephant struggled to get out of a river in Kruger National Park, South Africa, but he finally made it onto the bank after a little encouragement from his mother.

“These river banks are muddy, slippery and steep,” the filmer said. “The video shows the little one attempting to get out, but the steepness and the height of the bank was just too much for those short little legs.”

“Luckily for him, mommy was right nearby and with a little encouragement from her side, our brave little baby elephant finally manages to gather the strength and pull himself up the bank and onto his feet again,” the filmer added.

It was a warm afternoon while on safari in the Kruger Park, South Africa, when we were lucky enough to find a herd of elephants cooling down in a river. It looked like they were having the time of their lives. In this herd was one specific tiny baby elephant that caught everyone’s attention. This adorable little fellow decided that it was time to get out. This became a much more challenging task for the inexperience youngster. These river banks are muddy, slippery and steep. He now relies purely on pulling himself up with his front legs as the back ones are hanging with no traction. This took all the energy and determination this little guy had. Luckily for him, mommy was right nearby and with a little encouragement from her side, our brave little baby elephant finally manages to gather the strength and pull himself up the bank and onto his feet again. Everyone on the safari felt extremely proud and happy for the brave little elephant as he showed us what can be achieved with determination and a little encouragement from someone that cares. Majority of the time baby elephants make for incredible entertaining viewing. On many occasions these little elephants turn out to be one of the major highlights during a safari trip in Africa. This dedicated baby elephant was by far the highlight on this specific safari for everyone.
