Young Australian girl shows how to catch nippers for fishing bait
Mikalah is an adventurous 11 year old Australian girl.
In this footage she first pilots the aluminium fishing boat (known as a 'tinny' in Australia) to a sand flat at low tide at North Haven, New South Wales Australia.
She then uses what is called a yabby pump to extract sand and water from the burrows of the yabby or nipper as they are called.
She is successful in catching a few nippers (Callianassa australiensis). They have a giant claw which they can 'nip' you with - hence the name.
They make quite good bait and Mikalah tries her hand at fishing with them - unfortunately she had no luck that day.
