Finding a leopard on safari is always a rare and very special occasion. These elusive big cats are very difficult to find and extremely shy at the same time. During a recent safari in the Kruger National Park, we were very fortunate and lucky when we found a beautiful male leopard. The video shows this very impressive looking big cat resting high up in a tree early in the morning. The leopard looked extremely comfortable and relaxed up in this tree. These big cats are specialised tree climbers and prefer resting high up in a tree to get away from irritating insects and to stay clear from any other possible dangers such as lion and hyena. Leopards will spend most of the night walking around while hunting for food. After a long nights walk, these cats are exhausted. From a few hours after sunrise till late afternoon they will spend their time relaxing and sleeping. This leopard beautifully amused us with two separate big yawns while showcasing those freighting looking teeth. Just sitting and watching this magnificent creature relaxing up in a tree was a truly special experience. Definitely a big highlight while on a safari in Africa
