Guard cabin in central India detaches from moving train, rolls on own
A guard cabin of an Indian train came loose and rolled on its own in opposite direction.
The incident occurred near Bilaspur in India on April 21.
Railway officials said the coupling of the guard cabin, which was attached to a goods train transporting coal, broke. The cabin came loose and started rolling in the opposite direction due to the inclination of the tracks.
The guard, who was inside the cabin, alerted the loco pilot and a senior official of a nearby station.
But before the officials could rush to his assistance, the cabin came to a halt on its own after covering 10 kms.
An official said fortunately there was no other train running on the track at the time. “A major mishap was averted,” he added.
