The serrated hinged terrapin (Pelusios sinuatus) is a large freshwater turtle found in eastern Africa. It is common in Kruger Park and can be found in virtually every permanent waterbody. It moves overland during the wet season, and often ends up in temporary pools, like this one in a small tributary stream of the Olifants River. These terrapins came to the edge of the pool when a vehicle stopped, then climbed out, searching for food.
