Brave terrapin steals food from crocodile
A group of terrapins show their bravery by stealing food from under the nose of crocodile.
The footage, filmed in Kruger National Park in South Africa in 2014 shows the terrapins crowding a crocodile when one brave one goes for a scrap of food at the same time as the croc.
The terrapin had a near miss, but according to avid wildlife videographer, Robert Humphries the crocodile never tried to bite them on purpose.
Writes Humphries: "(The terrapin) moves overland during the wet season, and often ends up in temporary pools, like this one in a small tributary stream of the Olifants River. This pool also had an immature Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) in it, apparently living harmoniously with the terrapins.
"The terrapins and the crocodile rushed to the edge of the pool whenever a vehicle stopped, hoping for food. The terrapins competed for food scraps with the crocodile, climbing over it and getting in front of its jaws in their rush for food, but the crocodile never tried to bite any of them."
