Inaugural Qatar Airways Airbus A350 Takeoff from Cardiff Airport, Wales to Doha, Qatar
Today, 1st May 2018, Qatar Airways launched their new service between Cardiff and Doha. Here you can see the very first takeoff from Cardiff Airport!
Qatar Airways celebrated their brand new route between South Wales and the Gulf in style today, arranging a gorgeous water cannon salute as well as sending their brand new Airbus A350-900 (A7-ALU, delivered on the 25th April 2018) as a one off. After today, Qatar will operate this route daily using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
This new service is fantastic news for Cardiff Airport, Wales and aviation in the West country as a whole, with cheap fares via Doha to hundreds of destinations worldwide now available right on people's doorsteps.
In this video you'll see some shots of the aircraft on stand during the turnaround, pushback, taxi and the very first takeoff of this new service.
