Three teenagers were filmed swimming across the Pasig River in Manila, Philippines.

The young girl was using a piece of polystyrene as a float.

After emerging on the other side, she said: ‘This is quicker than using the bridge. We have to walk a long way out into the road and back again to get to the bridge.’

The children were from a small slum on the side of the river next to the bridge. But the maze of slum homes and winding roads mean they need to take a 20-minute walk to get to the bridge entrance.
