A bizarre confrontation broke out in Richmond, London on Saturday when a driver smoking a shisha pipe attempted to make his way through hordes of drunk rugby fans.

Scores of people - most of whom had just left the Army and Navy Rugby match at Twickenham - were enjoying a few pints on the banks of the River Thames when the Toyota approached with clouds of shisha smoke pouring out of the windows.

According to the filmer, the man started to "front up" to the drunk rugby fans when he was unable to get through the crowds.

As he stopped to argue with the drinkers, several of the rugby fans then attempted to move him on by force by pushing his car, which broke the rear spoiler, further antagonising the unusually dressed man.

A video of the incident shows the driver screaming abuse at the rugby fans as they bang on the vehicle and place their empty beer glasses on the roof.

The video shows the police arriving and moving the man on as the delighted rugby fans sing "Bye bye bye Delilah."
