The African Buffalo or Cape Buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is a very large, dangerous animal in the same family as domestic cattle. African Buffalo form large herds mainly made up of related females that move large distances in search of water and suitable grass to graze. This large herd of more than 300 animals was moving down a dry creek bed in the southern section of Kruger Park in October 2015. The rains had not begun, and the herd kicked up dust from the dry soil.
