Young baboon amusingly loses his grip while climbing tree
Watching baboons in the wild is most of the time a very rewarding and entertaining experience during a safari in the Kruger National Park. This video shows a young male baboon attempting to climb up the trunk of a large old tree. At first the little one looks confident and manages to get himself about halfway up the trunk. Suddenly he loses his grip and it looks like the youngster was falling down the tree, but in true cliff hanger style, he amazingly manages to grab onto the trunk again with one hand on the way within a split second. After his near fall out the tree the young male decides that he is done climbing this tree and carefully makes his way down. At the same time another young baboon wants to make his way up the tree. He doesn’t get far and unexpectedly gets pushed from the tree trunk and falls down. The young baboon then followed by making his way down to the ground. Baboons are master climbers of trees but it takes practise as a youngster. These young baboons clearly still need lots of climbing practise to develop their skills. In the mean time they will continue to fall out of trees on occasion while acquiring the necessary tree climbing skills.
