Local residents film still-smoking lava fissures in Hawaii
Local residents at Leilani Estates in Hawaii filmed ground fissures that opened up on May 8 in the wake of the Mount Kilauea eruptions.
Large open cracks are seen in the road emitting smoke whilst forest fires damage much of the vegetation in the area.
All residents have been ordered to evacuate on May 4 although some have chosen to remain, reports say.
The filmer claims he has never evacuated during an eruption and has chosen to stay and film the eruption as it unfolds. He writes: "The ground is pulsating. At first, I thought it was my heartbeat."
Leilani Estates rests in a lava flow hazard 1 zone of Mount Kilauea, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
