The Eastern Great Egret (Ardea alba modesta) is widespread throughout Asia and Oceania. This non-breeding adult was stalking small fish in the shallows of Peel Inlet, south of Perth in Western Australia on a completely still day with perfect reflections. The Egret caught a goby (a kind of small fish), swallowed it, shook its head then dipped its bill into the water before moving off to hunt again.
