Brawl at Copper Box Arena

My mate Chris and I were attending our first professional boxing show, courtesy of some tickets I’d won on Twitter. Was a great night, until a fight that featured Sam McNess, a fighter who is a proud West Ham fan, heavily supported by other Hammers, the claret and blue everywhere around the venue. His opponent, Asinia Byfield dealt him a punishing stoppage, and to add to some apparent mocking in the build up to the fight, Byfield made a Hammer’s gesture to the crowd as the referee stopped the bout. At that, the place went mental. Beer cups were thrown, punches were raining everywhere and you could see people, including women and children, running to get away from the violence. I stopped recording as it was slightly worrying, but the fighting went on for at least 20 minutes.
