In a stunning rescue, three policeman saved a 72-year-old man from being run over by a train in Jhansi, India.

The heart-stopping incident occurred on May 20.

The elderly man, who has not been identified, was travelling from New Delhi to Nagpur on the Rajdhani Express.

He got off at the Jhansi station to buy fruits and the train started pulling away before he could return to his seat.

Footage from the CCTV cameras at the station shows the man hurrying to catch the moving train. He gets hold of the door but is unable to haul himself inside.

He loses balance and begins to slip into the gap between the platform and the train.

Three Railway policemen, who were in the vicinity, rushed to his help and managed to pull him out to safety.

Eyewitness Poornima Shukla, 24, told reporters: “It was a difficult situation as the man held on to the door and was dragged by the train. But the cops never gave up.”
