This is the moment critically endangered Hawksbill turtle hatchlings shuffle along the beach to enter the ocean in Indonesia.

Video shows the adorable babies exiting their sandpit and making the journey to the sea in Tiku, West Sumatra.

Hatchlings usually make their way to the sea at nighttime, using the cover of darkness to guard against predators such as birds and crabs.

Once in the ocean, they rejoin their colony.

The turtles, known by their scientific name as Eretmochelys imbricata, is listed on the IUCN Red List as "critically endangered".

There are some conservation efforts in Sumatra, according to the filmer, but villagers often steal the eggs to sell them.

The footage was captured on May 16.
