Baboon attempts to catch angry bird that attacks him
This funny and amusing interaction between a male baboon and an angry bird was filmed in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. We stopped at a river to watch a troop of baboons going about their daily antics. Suddenly a very aggressive bird comes from nowhere and starts attacking a male baboon from the sky. The bird was identified as a blacksmith lapwing. These birds are incredibly aggressive towards any animal or human that moves in an area where they have their nests on the ground. Baboons especially love to raid their ground nests and eat the eggs. This bird did not like the presence of the male baboon and launched a full aerial attack by diving down out of the sky and flying low over the head of the intruder several times. The baboon tried to ward off the attack by attempting to grab and catch the bird out of the sky in an amusing manner. Eventually the baboon slowly moved off and the bird lost interest and the peace were restored again.
