Bird with incredibly odd looking bill spotted in Kruger Park
During an amazing bird watching safari in the Kruger Park we came across an incredibly odd looking duck in the waters of a large river. The bill of the duck had the most bizarre look with a comb like shape attached to the top of its bill. Our guide kindly identified the bird as the knob-billed duck or otherwise known as the comb duck. The bird seen in the footage is a male. The knob on top of the male’s bill is actually fleshy which becomes enlarged during the breeding season. This male bird fascinated us with his large knob sticking out on top of his bill while slowly floating down the river. This male was filmed in the middle of the breeding season and his knob is enlarged to the maximum, meaning that this guy is ready for action.
