Buy video

These two lionesses had killed and eaten a half-grown Zebra near the Klopperfontein waterhole in northern Kruger Park. They were full but lay near the Zebra carcass under the shade of Mopane shrubs preventing two Hyaenas and three Black-backed Jackals from eating the remains. The scavengers waited patiently for the Lions to leave, but they didn’t, one of them returning a few times to chew on the scant remains of the young Zebra and standing up, looking at the scavengers and keeping them at bay. The lioness stopped gnawing the remains of her Zebra kill and raised her head, looking intently at two Spotted Hyaenas waiting nearby.
