World Record for Largest Mashed Potato Pie in Peru
Sunday 27 May, Cusco, Peru – The Guinness World Record has been set for the largest mashed potato pie in the world at the weekend in Cusco, Peru. Causa, a very unique Peruvian dish, is made with mashed yellow potato and ground yellow chilli, and filled with various types of meat and vegetables.
The feat was used to promote the consumption of native potatoes in Peru for their nutritional value. 800 kg of potatoes were be used to prepare a causa that was 5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide.
In the end the causa weighed over 500 kg and was awarded the largest cause ever made.
