The Leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the world’s most beautiful big cats with its powerful build and stunning coat that is marked with rosettes. Leopards are secretive, solitary animals, with males and females only coming together to mate, or when females have cubs. This large male Leopard was patrolling his home range in Kruger Park, South Africa in the middle of the day. He was completely unconcerned at our presence, initially moving away from us in a large circle before returning to the road via a dry creek bed, where he marked the soil by scratching it and applying scent from the glands in his rear paws.
