The Leopard (Panthera pardus) is one of the world’s most beautiful big cats with its powerful build and stunning coat that is marked with rosettes. Leopards are secretive, solitary animals, with males and females only coming together to mate, or when females have cubs. This female Leopard was eating a male Impala that she had killed near the Ngotso Waterhole in Kruger Park. A she ate she often paused, looking up and to her right. She was right to be wary – after some time a female Spotted Hyaena rushed in and stole the kill from her.
