A power cable that collapsed across a road in Indonesia caused chaos for motorists.

Footage filmed on May 31 in Bukittinggi shows the black cable slouching across the road as motorists and motorcyclists attempt to navigate it.

Drivers lean out of their windows to move the cable as they drive past and motorcyclists duck underneath it.

A local resident is seen trying to re-hook the cable with a broom, with limited success.

According to the filmer, traffic flow returned to normal after an employee from the state electricity company returned the cable to its original position.

The loose wire of the road blocks the passing vehicles causing the road to jam. Motorcyclists duck their heads and the driver of the car slows down the speed of the vehicle, and even a car is forced to stop to avoid the cable in front of it.

A resident on the scene tried to use a broom to hook the cord to a higher ground, so that the vehicle could pass under the wire.

According to the residents, this cable is a saggy streetlight cables allegedly due to rain and hooked cables that have weathered by age.

Some time the traffic flows back smoothly after the State Electricity Company officers came hooked the cable to its original position.
