Video shows lava fountains and mudflows as Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupts
Hawaii's Kilauea volcano continued to erupt as the month of May drew to a close, engulfing the island in steady streams of lava and mud.
The footage, taken by Leilani Estates resident Laura Wolf, captured the sight on the morning of May 27. Lava fountains, mudflows and clouds of ash and smoke can be seen in the clip.
Increased volcanic activity since April has led to the mass evacuation of residents in the island's Puna district as lava continued to threaten homes, roads and other structures, one local source reported. Geologists said they are unable to forecast when the eruptions would end.
