Quick-thinking policemen used a SOFA to catch a distressed woman who had clambered up the outside of their station.

The female had been visiting to report a crime at the Prakhonchai police station in Buriram, Thailand, when she became agitated and climbed onto a ledge.

Officers were unable to talk her down - so dragged over a red leather sofa from the station's waiting room area.

Luckily, when the woman fell from the 20ft hight ledge she landed on the furniture which cushioned the blow. Medics arrived and took her to hospital after the incident on November 1 last year.

Police Lieutenant Wuth said: ''The woman was stressed by personal problems. The police here ensured she was not injured and took her to hospital for treatment.''
