CCTV footage of the incident shows the man pulling out the phone in alacrity soon after it explodes. As he throws it on the table, other customers flee from a huge cloud emanating from the mobile phone.

The man, who has not been identified, had kept the phone in his front pocket. The exploding device partially burnt his shirt.

The man received minor injuries and had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
