Great White Shark Chasing the Bait

Buy video

A Great White Shark chases the bait on a cage diving trip in Gansbaai, South Africa.
Relaxed at first, having a good look at the camera cruising by, she then picks up speed upon noticing another White Shark has appeared. The aim of shark cage diving is not to feed the sharks, but to provide a safe viewing platform for people to see them, observe their behaviour, how generally relaxed they are, without purposefully feeding the sharks. They are attracted by the scent of "chum" in the water. It is great to see people's perceptions of these animals change once they have seen them in real time, and that they are not the mindless killing machines they are often portrayed to be.
