This is the heart-stopping moment a policeman saves an elderly man from being run over by a truck.

The incident occurred at a town in Raigad, Maharashtra, India and was caught on a CCTV camera.

The video shows policeman Vishal Yevale doing his duty on a busy street.

An elderly pedestrian can be seen walking unmindful that he had come right in front of a large truck.

An eyewitness Ramesh Khandse said: “The truck driver didn’t notice that a man was walking right in front of him.”

“I thought that the man would go under the left tyre of the truck.”

Yevale saw what was happening and managed to rescue the man in the nick of time.

As the truck knocked down the man, Yevale grabbed and pulled him away from the tyres helping him dodge a certain death.

The local police have booked the truck driver for negligent driving.
