Leilani Estates locals hike through toxic volcanic smog
This video, shot by Leilani Estates local Kai Nishiki on June 4, shows a hike through the devastated Leilani Estates area.
Nishiki told Newsflare they were making their way to his mother's house.
The hiker in the video is seen wearing layers of protective wear to guard against inhaling the thick volcanic smog emerging from the cracks in the ground. The footage, captured in May, also shows the twin lava fountains from Fissure 8 as the camera pans around.
