This mad-cap mechanic father couldn't resist tinkering with his daughter's push bike - and turned it into a roaring motorbike.

Apinan Yuangngern set to work on the tiny orange girl's bicycle outside the family home in Trang, Thailand, in January this year.

But by the time he had finished his handy work it had a lawn mower's petrol motor and chrome exhaust exhaust attached to the back wheel.

Apinan, a part-time inventor, was first to ride the new contraption and was filmed whizzing up and down the street as his four-year-old daughter watched.

He said: ''I'm very proud of this design. I saw my daughter's bike and an old lawn mower and decided to put the two together. I used an exhaust from a motorcycle.

''I love inventing things. My daughter liked the new machine, but she was not keen on riding it. It goes to fast for her.''
