A filmmaker captured the heartwarming moment a family of elephants makes the journey to drink at a watering hole in Kenya.

The touching footage, filmed in the Samburu National Reserve on March 2, shows how local Samburu warriors and the herd of elephants live in harmony.

The clan, including two small babies, journey through the bush to reach a water source on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro river.

Despite the scorching African sun meaning rehydration is important, the calves seem more interested in rolling around and wallowing in the mud.

At one point, the muddy ground proves too much and causes one of the babies to lose its footing.

After drinking their fill, the family retreats to the shade to rest.

This elephant family is the Storms family, all named after types of weather. The two small babies shown were born in the same baby boom in Samburu National Reserve that saw a lion attack the calf of Nablus from the Biblical Towns elephant family [See: https://bit.ly/2Mf6Izo] Here we see the Storms family beginning their day in the hills alongside passing Samburu warriors. Elephants are less vulnerable to lion ambushes in open country so overnight here. Elephant babies should drink daily which means matriarch Cyclone and Raine, mother to the two calves, need to take them to the Ewaso Nyiro river. Once there though, it seems play is higher on the agenda for the youngsters than rehydration! - the two mums eventually lead the babies to a shady spot, as the other members of the herd continue to wallow and drink.
