Strong winds shake a suspension footbridge during a storm in Bukidnon, Philippines, on May 27, at 2.20pm.

Local resident Reyniel Paula who was waiting to walk across the bridge said they were too afraid to try - and had to wait until the winds had passed.

She said: ''This bridge was built recently, maybe one years ago. We're very grateful for the bridge because it is easier to cross the river.

''But during these strong winds I was too afraid to go near it. I waited with my friend for a few hours until night time and then walked over.''

The Philippines is comprised of more than 7,000 different islands which include many rivers. Bridge building is expected to increase in the coming years as economic develop allows communities to become better connected with transport and bridge engineering projects.
